Welcome to Saint David’s next Organist and Choir Director

INTRODUCING… Our new Organist/Parish Musician Stephanie Budwey, a professor Christian History and Worship at Vanderbilt Divinity School, will be joining us on the organ for the 10:30 service on August 11. And our own Laura Duke will move into the official role of Saint David’s Choir Director. She begins her role officially on July 16. Stephanie Budwey is the Luce Dean’s Faculty Fellow Assistant Professor of the History and Practice of Christian Worship and the Arts as well as being the Director of the Religion in the Arts and Contemporary Culture Program. She has been at the Vanderbilt Divinity School for just a year. She is looking forward to being a part of a spiritual community which she says informs her teaching and research as much as it feeds her spirit. She also just simply loves to play the organ. Laura has been the Music Director at Linden Waldorf School for 9 years, teaching middle school choir in addition to music classes for grades 1-8.  Over the past few years, she has been considering a vocation in adult choral direction. As a soprano in the Saint David’s Adult Choir for 18 years, she also learned to direct the choirs. Over the last four months, Laura has led the choir not only in anthems they already knew, but also in learning new pieces to truly show off the talent of the choir. She has worked with the children’s choirs for 10 years and looks forward to continuing that work as well as dusting off our handbells and getting Saint David’s ringing again.
