A Celebration of Beloved Creatures – October 6

Blessing, Washing, and Laying to Rest

All are welcome to celebrate those animals in our lives that give us companionship, joy and appreciation for God’s creation. At 10am, bring your beloved creatures (including stuffed animals and photographs!) to the lower parking lot at Saint David’s for a brief liturgy, which will conclude in your creatures receiving a blessing.

Saint David’s tweens and youth will be on hand to wash your pet or clean out a cage if you choose. All donations made will help send our youth on their second trip to Camp Able next summer. At Camp Able, youth pair up with kids and youth of diverse abilities to spend a fun filled week of camp and community.

At 10:30am we will also celebrate the lives of those creatures who have already passed with a quieter liturgy in our chapel. You are welcome to bring a photograph to lay out on our memory table. If you have ashes you wish to scatter on our hill where other loved ones already enjoy a peaceful rest, we will walk up the hill after the liturgy for the committal of ashes to the earth.
